Congratulations!

Congratulations! You’ve been offered a role on the Musgrave Graduate Programme, starting at the end of the summer. Before you begin, you’ll have an introductory day to meet your new colleagues and fellow grads. This is a great chance to get to know everyone, learn what to expect, and get a sneak peek into your future career with us.

First Two Weeks

When you start, you’ll spend the first two weeks building connections with other graduates through a mix of in-person and virtual team-building activities. You’ll also visit various Musgrave sites to see our operations in action, from depots to MarketPlace to retail stores.

Months 1 – 6

Most of our graduate roles are hybrid, with in-person days at our headquarters in Cork, Dublin, or Belfast, depending on your team. Operations roles like Supply Chain and Retail Operations are primarily in-person. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to do the job yet—we’ll provide training and hands-on experience in your chosen role.

You’ll get early responsibility, learning on-the-job with support and mentoring from your managers and the grad network. Throughout the Programme, you’ll participate in focused development modules through Musgrave Institute and can customise your learning, whether it’s mastering Excel or getting technical training on specific systems. Finance graduates will start the CIMA Finance Leadership Programme as part of their professional qualification.

You’ll also have regular 1-1 sessions with a member of the Early Careers team for mentoring and support in your professional and personal development. Plus, you’ll experience life at Musgrave through various social and voluntary groups, including dedicated early careers events, Employee Resource Groups, and social events with your team.

Months 7 – 12

By now, you’ll have settled into your role and grown in confidence and knowledge. Your manager will continue to mentor you, and you’ll look for opportunities to stretch yourself. Together, you’ll review your objectives to ensure they play to your strengths and focus on your development.

You’ll work on a business project with all current graduates, sponsored and mentored by a senior business leader. From February to May, you’ll collaborate on this project and present your findings to our CEO and Executive team at the Early Careers Summit in June—a fantastic networking opportunity with senior managers.

Remember the taster day? Now that you’re a fully-fledged team member, you’ll offer support and guidance to the next cohort of grads. You’ll be surprised at how much you’ve learnt in just a year!

Months 13 – 18

A key element of our Graduate Programme is rotation to broaden your knowledge and skillsets. You’ll continue in the same stream (e.g., Finance) but may rotate to a different team or location. Finance and Trading grads rotate across different business units, which may include moving between Cork, Dublin, or Belfast. Rotating helps you build a broader network, take on new projects, and develop new skills.

You’ll set new objectives and development goals in your new rotation, supported by ongoing development through Musgrave Institute and focused graduate development modules.

Months 19 – 24

By now, you’ve grown in skills and knowledge and are ready to challenge yourself further. You’ll participate in an ‘off-boarding’ workshop to help manage your transition off the Grad Programme and prepare for internal recruitment processes and set your post-programme development goals.

You’ll be assigned your second business project, where you can share your knowledge and experience with newer colleagues. You’ll apply lessons learned from your first project and work with a new team to develop insights for the business. You’ll present your project at the Early Careers Summit, your second opportunity to present to our CEO and executive team.

All grad roles, except Finance, are two years in duration. As your graduate journey ends, you’ll realise it’s just the beginning! You’ll take everything you’ve learnt and bring your knowledge and experience to a key business role, using the Programme as a platform to launch your career with our market-leading brands.

(Finance Specific)

Months 25 – 36

Our Finance Graduate Programme provides three years of practical experience required for the Chartered Global Management Accountancy qualification. In your third and final year, you’ll complete your final professional exams and hone your practical experience with our finance teams. Musgrave supports your exams financially and offers paid study leave throughout the Programme. You’ll work with your manager and CIMA to ensure you meet all competency requirements to achieve your CGMA designation.
