At Musgrave, we use asynchronous video interviews to get to know you better; your motivations, your personality, and why you want to join our Graduate Programme. That means you’ll record your responses to pre-set questions, rather than speaking to a live interviewer.
The platform we use gives you the flexibility to complete your interview at a time that suits you, all from the comfort of your own home.
Sounds ideal, right? So why does speaking to a camera feel a bit daunting? Don’t worry, we’re here to make the process as transparent and supportive as possible.
If you require any accommodations during the video interview process, we’re here to support you. Just let us know, we’re committed to ensuring a fair and inclusive experience for all candidates.
What to expect
- You’ll receive log-in details and a deadline in your invitation email.
- Once logged in, you’ll find clear instructions and a chance to do a trial run before starting the actual interview.
- Use the practice exercise to check your camera, microphone, and get comfortable with the format.
- You’ll have a set window of time to complete the interview — make sure to submit before the deadline so your application can progress.
Tips for a successful video interview
- Set the scene – Choose a quiet, well-lit space with a tidy background. Minimise distractions.
- Dress the part – Wear what you would to an in-person interview — it sets the tone and shows you’re taking it seriously.
- Practice makes progress – Use the trial run to get familiar with the platform. Practice answering common questions to build confidence.
- Be yourself – We want to see the real you. Let your personality and passion for Musgrave come through.
- Stay calm – Feeling nervous is normal. Take a few deep breaths and focus on being present.
- Technical check – Ensure your internet connection is stable. Have a backup plan (like a mobile hotspot) just in case.
During the interview
- Body language – Sit up straight, smile, and use natural gestures. Positive body language makes a big impact on your energy and tone of voice — even on camera.
- Clear communication – Speak clearly and at a steady pace. Take a moment to think before answering.
- Use STAR – Structure your answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to keep responses focused and effective. Check our interview blog for information on STAR.
- Don’t forget to submit – Follow the instructions carefully to ensure your interview is fully submitted.
