At Musgrave, we use video interviews to get to know you better and understand why you want to join our grad programme. The online platform we use offers the flexibility to complete the interview at a time that suits you, all from the comfort of your own home. Sounds great, right? So why does the thought of speaking to a camera make you nervous? We’re here to make the process as transparent as possible so you know what to expect.
What to Expect
You’ll receive log-in details and deadline information in the invitation email. Once you log in, you’ll find instructions on how to launch the questions. Take advantage of the opportunity to do a trial run before starting the actual interview. This is the perfect time to check that your camera and microphone are working correctly.
If you are invited to complete a video interview for our Graduate Programme, you will have a certain window of time in which you can complete it. This will be outlined in the invitation email. You can complete the video interview at any point during the time allowed, however do make sure you complete it before the deadline as otherwise we won’t be able to progress your application any further. And we’d hate you to miss out because you didn’t check the deadline!
Tips for a Successful Video Interview
- Set the Scene: Choose a quiet, well-lit space where you won’t be disturbed. Make sure your background is tidy and professional.
- Dress the Part: Dress as you would for an in-person interview. It helps set the right tone and shows you’re taking the process seriously.
- Practice Makes Perfect: Use the trial run to get comfortable with the platform. Practice answering common interview questions to build confidence.
- Be Yourself: Authenticity is key. Let your personality shine through and show why you’re passionate about joining Musgrave.
- Stay Calm: It’s natural to feel nervous but try to stay calm and focused. Take deep breaths and remember, the interviewers want to see the real you.
- Technical Check: Ensure your internet connection is stable. Have a backup plan in case of technical issues, like connecting to your mobile hotspot.
During the Interview
- Body Language: Sit up straight and use natural gestures. Positive body language can make a big difference.
- Clear Communication: Speak clearly and at a moderate pace. Take your time to think before answering questions.
- STAR Method: Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. This helps you provide clear and concise responses.
- Submit: Make sure you follow the instructions to fully submit your responses.
